Teachers During Standardized Testing Week

We just finished a week of standardized testing. Whew! Ya feel me?

During our standardized testing week I had a few thoughts pass through my mind…and I figured a few you could relate to my experience.

Here goes…

“Who is gonna rock this test? WE ARE!! Who is gonna show this test we are boss?? WE ARE!!! Who are the smartest 2nd graders ever!?!? WE ARE!!!”

“Okay we are 20 minutes in… they are focused. YES! They remembered me telling them their brains should be busy. Johnny is using his strategies.”

“Wait a minute…is Bobby listening to me read these questions? Does he hear me? Did he sleep last night? Maybe I should walk over and stand by his desk and read REAL LOUD!”

“Why did they put that question on here!?!? That is not grade appropriate!!!”

“They better get this question right… We covered this OVER AND OVER!!”

“Oh no! Sam missed the last two…he is working so hard”

“What time is it? Are we done yet? How many more questions in this section?”

“Why are they getting this question wrong!?!?! We have covered this all year!!!”

“You BETTER start using your scratch sheet of paper. WHY the heck is she not using the scratch sheet of paper!?!?”

“No, you may NOT go to the restroom. We went before we started the test. I told you BEFORE we started the test to go the restroom.”

“Please stop making silly faces to the child across the room.”

“Their brains are tired. My brain is tired. We all need a nap.”

“TURN THE PAGE. TURN THE PAGE. You have two more problems on the next page…Don’t you see the green GO sign at the bottom???? G.O. GOOOOOOOOO!!!! It NOT the stop sign!!! Please don’t miss those problems!”

“Is testing week over yet?”

“We are done… stick a fork in us. How about we just play outside the rest of the day???”

Can you relate? Thankfully we are finished with our testing and I couldn’t be more proud of my students. Not because they “did well”, but because they worked hard. To all of you that still have weeks of testing…my heart goes out to you.”
